How To Practice Meditation



- Meditation is the most important practice for calming the mind. A calm mind can lead to a healthy, happy and successful life. It can cure diseases and speed up healing processes. We describe the simple techniques as below. Meditation stands and refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. In meditation breath and focus are the main processing act. Breath is the most basic act of life which starts from birth and goes on till death. But generally, we are not aware of the breath till our attention is drawn close to it. Focus means its awareness. Focus on breath means applying the mind to the flow of air when we breathe. The method is as described below: Sit in a posture suitable for meditation. But if you cannot do this, just sit cross-legged. Your back should be straight and eyes closed. Your knees should be placed well on the ground. Do not stoop your shoulders back. The whole body should be relaxed and the whole frame steady without giving any pull or pressure on the thighs, feet, knees, spine or neck. There should be no stretch on tension along the abdominal wall. Let the abdominal wall sway gently back and forth very smoothly and effortlessly with each respiration. Facial muscles should be relaxed and mouth closed with a small gap between the two jaws such that the upper and lower teeth do not put pressure on each other. Your tongue should touch the palate with tip touching the back of the upper front teeth. Ensure that the lips, tongue or the lower jaws do not move. Your eyeballs and eyelids should be steady and the muscles of the forehead relaxed. Your entire posture should be comfortable, steady and relaxed. You should not feel strain on any part of the body. Now start developing the awareness of breathing. The flow of air should be uniform, slow and smooth. Do not make any effort or exercise right now. Never hold breath. Do not think about any word or see any image or do not even think about anything. Focus on your breath. This will calm your mind and help you achieve peace.

  Meditation is most commonly associated with Monks and spiritual persons with higher disciplines. However you don’t have to be monk or any to enjoy its benefits. Even you don’t need a particular place or time to implement it. The place you perform meditation should have a soothing atmosphere. It may be in your living room, or bed room, or any place that you feel comfortable in. Silent environment helps most people relax and meditate, so you may want a quiet and isolated area far from the ringing a bell or phone or any other distraction noise.

  Studies has shown that meditation does bring about most beneficial effects to the body. And in today’s Hectic time many people and communities are using meditation to live a peaceful and QUALITY LIFE AHEAD.

 

CONCLUSION :

  The Principle here is FOCUS. You can also try a focusing on a certain thought or object.  If you want to do a quick meditation then you can try like Breath in, Hold, and breath out and only focus on your breath for several minutes while you are on work, on bed before sleep or anywhere at any time for few minutes. Although there are many different approaches to meditation, the fundamental principles remain the same. The most important among these principles is that of removing negativities and unusual thoughts out of your mind and Calming the mind with a deep sense a focus. This Clears the mind of debris and prepares it for a higher quality of active level.
